Welcome

Jolly Sailor Creative Repair is a creative mending studio devoted to honoring the life of well-worn garments. Each piece that arrives here carries history, memory, and material vulnerability. This work is collaborative, thoughtful, and one-of-a-kind.

By submitting a garment and placing a deposit, you agree to the following terms.

The Nature of Creative Repair

Creative mending is not restoration to “like new.” It is an artistic reinterpretation.

Through consultation, we will discuss vision, tone, materials, and possibilities. While your input guides the process, final design decisions remain with Jolly Sailor Creative Repair to preserve artistic integrity and cohesion.

Each finished piece will be unique. Variation is part of the beauty.

Condition of Garments

All garments submitted are pre-owned and may contain hidden wear, weakened fibers, stains, dye instability, or structural fragility.

Great care is taken throughout the repair process. However:

• Pre-existing damage may become more visible.

• Fragile textiles may respond unpredictably to stitching or handling.

• Longevity cannot be guaranteed.

By sending your garment, you acknowledge and accept these risks.

Consultation & Collaboration

Consultations are confidential and collaborative. We will discuss scope, timeline, and estimated cost before work begins.

Approval of the project plan (verbally or in writing) confirms your agreement to move forward.

Deposits & Payment

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your project and begin design planning.

The deposit:

• Secures your place in the studio queue

• Covers consultation time and creative development

Final payment is due prior to return or shipment of your completed piece.

Work will not begin without a deposit.

No Returns or Refunds

Because each garment is custom, artist-designed, and made specifically for you:

• All sales are final.

• Deposits are non-refundable.

• Returns and exchanges are not accepted.

Please feel comfortable with the collaborative and interpretive nature of this process before proceeding.

Shipping

Clients are responsible for shipping costs to and from the studio unless otherwise arranged.

Jolly Sailor Creative Repair is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit. Tracked and insured shipping is strongly recommended.

Photography Release

Creative repair is a visual art practice. Jolly Sailor Creative Repair may photograph garments before, during, and after the mending process for portfolio, website, social media, grant applications, or educational purposes.

Photographs will focus on the garment and repair work. Personal identifying details will not be shared without permission.

If you prefer that your piece not be photographed or shared publicly, please state this in writing before work begins.

Unclaimed Work

If final payment is not received within 30 days of completion notice, the garment may be retained, repurposed, or donated at the discretion of Jolly Sailor Creative Repair.

A Note on Care

Creative mending extends the life of clothing, but repaired areas should be treated gently. Care instructions may be provided depending on the piece.
